A Field Guide to North American Birders--A Parody
This clever and endearing book reminds us that we came for the birds and stay a little longer for the people. It encourages us to celebrate our own personal birding style--our contribution to the Great Mosaic. And scientific names are nice; referring to ourselves in Latin gives us gravitas.
The book underscores the contributions (and costs) of having this many people looking out for birds and habitat. As Harmon puts it, "On an interdependent earth, there is no such thing as a boring birder."
